I am finished with my first week of prep diet...and have actually gained a pound?? How is that possible? So frustrated now that a gain may make it appear to my doctor that I was not following the rules. Then will this translate to my band loss also? If I'm not losing on the Pre op how can I lose after band? This is also coming from a person who has gained weight with weight watchers following it to a T!!!

How frustrating, I'm so sorry.

What diet are you on? Did you follow it exactly, or was there some cheating?

If you didn't cheat, and you gained on Weight Watchers without cheating: Have you ever had your thyroid checked? Hormone levels? Checked for Diabetes? All these things can greatly effect weight loss.

If you are following your pre-op plan as directed and you have gained weight, it could be numerous things going on...

Mis73 has made some great valid points about your health, you should have them checked by your primary doctor. If you have and this is not the case, are you pms-ing do you have PCOS? Are you taking any medications? You could possibly be retaining Fluid and during these times especially you should watch your salt intake.

I have followed my plan to a 't' as well and didn't lose anything for almost a month except 1 pound. Sometimes seriously its not our faults why our body weight stalls on us when we are doing all the right things. I really feel your frustration.

Explain the situation to your sugeon and stress that you have been following his/her directions and maybe you and the nutrionist can come up with a better structured plan design especially for your needs to get the ball rolling...

Best of luck,

I can attest to the pms weight gain. Every month it just soooo hsppened i was scheduled the week of my cycle, pure coincidence, to have my monthly meetings w/ the surgeon..!!!!! For this 3 month period ot actually looks like i gained weight from my initial appt. I just took some diurex or ramped up my Water intake from 64 to 80oz a day.. it helps!!!!! Best of luck and you should be fine

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
