Hey guys-

I have lost 33 lbs and am 8.5 weeks out! I have been doing Zumba 6 times a week and been eating pretty healthy. I did two cheats instead of one last week and felt pretty bad about myself but learned my lesson...guess we are all human right? All of a sudden this morning my port site started to have a lot of pain. I don't know why so that is why I am asking all of you. I am confused as to why my port site would even have pain. I have had two fill so far and have 5.25 cc in a 10 cc band. I still feel a little bit hungry in between meals but am going to wait it out between another fill. Does anyone have any ideas as to why my port site hurts? Thanks!

I really hope you are not doing Zumba 6 times a day!! Lol.. Typo? If you are, I think you are over doing it! Lol.. You are still healing inside. Give it some time if it continues to hurt or gets worse call your dr. You might have pulled something!!

I was having pain in my port and still do occasionally . I went to the dr and he said that there is some mesh in there and it is stitched to the muscle, he said it could have something to do with scar tissue and the mesh. He said as long as it isn't constant it is probably ok. He said to call him if it gets unbearable or is constant.

My question is: could it be muscle pain/ soreness from working out? Did it happen suddenly after a certain movement? Is it sharp pain? You may have overdone it but I'm with Sandy, call your doctor!

I am almost 7 weeks out and all of a sudden yesterday my port site felt inflamed and a little tender. Not exercise associated. The only thing different was that I had battled a Migraine the day before. It is still a little sore this morning, but not as puffy feeling, so I am going to keep an eye on it. If it is bothering me next week, I'll get in to see the doctor.

Of course I know I am supposed to call my doctor and have a phone call in to them as of this morning! I post on this site to get some helpful tips from those who have experienced this or are experiencing these types of problems...hence why this website is here in the first place!

Sometimes it is so much better to hear encouraging words, an 'it's okay', or anything else from someone who has been through this since there is so much negativity out there in regards to the band.

Thanks for your help guys!!

Does anyone know how big the actual port is? I am 3 weeks out, and still feel the port very much. Feels like it's about 10lbs! I can't roll over in bed without it "moving" with me, and when I wake and stand up in the morning, I feel like "the port" is just waking up too and it pulls on me til I get moving in the am. It;s located right under my left rib cage and every time I shave my legs or tie my shoes it "hits" my rib cage. I went to my Post Op last week and complained about it, thought something was wrong. They sent me for an xray, and said although it looks like he placed the port "higher" than usual, everything looked fine. It's not painful anymore (it was last week) but it just feels "heavy" and sometimes feels like stitches in your side after you've run too many miles. Will this feeling subside?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
