Was She For Real? Gp's Nurse...

Recommended Posts

I had my first appointment with my GP since I've started my journey. The nurse weighed me. I'm down 64lbs from the last time they saw me. She says nothing. Fine. We get in the room, she's going through the whole list of standard questions, then asks if I've had any changes in my health history since my last visit. I told her I had LB surgery on Aug 7. The very next thing out of her mouth was, "Your BMI is high for your height. Do you want some weight counseling?" I told her I just had LB surgery, I've lost 64 lbs and lowered my BMI by 10 points! She casually says, "Fair enough." Wow! Lol! Oh and my A1c was 4.8!!!!! My doc changed the status of my diabetes to"resolved."

Congratulations on WL& diabetes! That is awesome! I had a cardiologist like your GP, before banding. Lost 30 lbs, not one freaking word, gain 2 lbs and you would have thought it was 50lbs. It's like , how about some positive reinforcement?

Best of luck on your continued journey!

Thanks, all! I'm sure she was just going thru the motions. I suppose I have no clue what's going on in her life either. Maybe she was just having an off day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
