Green Zone/sweet Spot

For those of you that are in your Green Zone: How much weight were you loosing between fills?

I was banded on August 22, 2012 and I have 5ccs in a 14cc band after 2 fills. While I have lost a total of 47 pounds since my journey began in July (16 pre-op & 31 post-op), I lost 9 pounds between my first and second fill. I see the Doctor every 4 weeks right now.

I know (and they tell me) that I'm right on track with the 1-2 pounds per week, but I thought it would be more, especially at the beginning.

I know everyone is different and i was just curious to see where others were between fills. Thanks!!

I averaged 10 lbs a month... With or without fills

I think 1-2 lbs is okay. I don't remember how quick mine was. I was banded in 09/2010 and the first 50 lbs came off in about 6-7 months. But, I've been at a plateau since then. I have thyroid issues, so that's part of it. I've started back with fills (a few months ago) and am really hoping to kick it back in gear with a fill tomorrow. Good luck to you. You're doing fine.

P.S. I heard the slower the loss, the less problems you might have with excess skin?

I have lost 60 pounds since my surgery this past March. Things are slowing down now and I am finding that the theory of the band being a tool and not a fix is more true now. The past few days I have really kicked in with good eating habits and that makes things easier and I have lost some. The band can't do it on its own. Once I realized that thing are better!

The most I have ever lost in one month is 9 pounds. Be patient it WILL all come off if you are diligent!

It varies greatly. I've lost as much as 26 in one month and as little as 7.

Fills have nothing to do with it, btw. I've restricted my calories and portions since I got home from the hospital, regardless of Green Zone or not.

Ok so here is where I get confused if fills have nothing to do with it why did we get the band? I get that you can loose with low cal and limited portions but is it not easier when we are in the green zone? I have been in "bandster hell"

I orginally thought I would get this I would loose weight but my nurse has even said "it's not uncommon to even gain until you are at the green zone." Now I am in Canada things are different here especially self pay we don't go through any process or real pre diet and counselling, we pay we get. However when i got it nothing was different which was a struggle and I did not loose so I thought whay did I pay all this money for what. Now here I am 5cc in a 10cc band and I am just starting to get it things are falling into place there is restriction with food, I have to slow down, I don't mentally and physically want to over eat and it is becoming easier in return i am loosing weight. Most improantly and get what why everyone else loves it. So again I think it does make a difference, no?

We get the band to appease our appetite. The band allows me to be satisfied on less for longer periods of time, which is exactly what it's supposed to do.

But fills themselves don't cause you to lose weight- burning more calories than you consume does. The band makes it easier to do that because I'm not hungry all the time and satisfied on a cup or less of food.

About 8-10 pounds per month...when this would happen, it seems like my fills were about once every three months. I would slip out of green zone, get a fill 1/4cc (lately) and be between red and green zone for a couple weeks. By third week I was losing rapidly and eating normally, now 1/4 cup per meal. I'm in my fourth week since this make it or break it fill at 6cc pretty right. But, I'm drinking and eating using good old rules. I have been told that one or two pounds a week is good, but know there may be plateaus that occur over a month.

I feel ya. I had surgery in July and just this week after my 3rd fill can I feel the effects of it. I didn't gain up until now but it was a slow loss, not noticeable. I was bummed in bandster hell and now am trying to figure out what I can eat!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
