megamomnj 334 Posted November 9, 2012 I was just banded on Tuesday. Feeling good except the gas pains but I can live with them. This is a lot easier than my two c-sections! Question though: I am not really hungry. I have been sipping Water or Decaf tea all day. I have three four once Protein shakes today and a little bit of broth. Is this enough? bdlugosz1 4 Posted November 9, 2012 According to my drs instructions I am supposed to be drinking a minimum of 48-64 ounces daily. I was banded yesterday. You don't want to get dehydrated.
amcolling 4 Posted November 9, 2012 I only had sugar free Popsicles and Water. You barely need anything the first week and you won't be hungry for a long time- that's all normal. I just had surgery on Oct 29th
acoleman380 23 Posted November 9, 2012 I had surgery yesterday 11/8 and today is much better than yesterday. Yesterday the gas pains were HORRIBLE and they were in my neck and shoulders and I felt awful. Today they are gone in that area but I do have some in my stomach area. I started drinking my Protein Shakes today but can only drink about 3-4 sips before I start to feel full and uncomfortable. I also have lots of rumbling in my tummy followed by a gas pain, Hopefully we will all start feeling better soon.
amcolling 4 Posted November 9, 2012 I can't stand Protein shakes- I never drank them. Try gas-x and walking as much as possible.

bonmah77 20 Posted November 9, 2012 I was banded yesterday too, and forced myself to get up twice the day of surgery and it made a really big difference. But I was dehydrated even with the intravenous Fluid, Once they upped the amount of fluids, it made such a difference. Good luck, and walking does make you feel better. talkalot1981 5 Posted November 9, 2012 I'm 3 years banded and when I get really hungry I have the gas pains in my shoulder still.
CHEZNOEL 4,061 Posted November 10, 2012 Congrats on you new band! There are a lot of Protein Shakes, including the ones you make yourself. Don't write them off too quickly. You will need them to keep you Protein levels up at first!
