Having A Terrible Time!

Recommended Posts

I've had my band a couple of years, was unfilled a couple of months ago due to reflux, PBing, unable to eat band friendly foods. Lately, I'm PBing up foods I ate more than 8 hours earlier, waking with acid in my mouth, etc. I follow band rules and am satisfied for at least five hours after eating, whether it stays down or not. Right now I'm feeling stuck on two tiny pills (prescription) and can't eat Breakfast till they're through.

I have an appt next week with my GI doctor to figure out the next step. Any ideas?

I am right there with ya with the reflux and acid it's horrible... Got a fill last Thursday miserable all weekend had to go back in and take .3 ccs out... I would rather lose 4 lbs a month the hardway than to be sick and lose 20 lbs a month the puking way...pills don't help either...

I have days all hell breaks loose- acid- throwing up and next day like it never happened... so weird- I think if you make the band mad it will stay mad for the day-- little Water little tea--nothing more- and I am talking about the same foods- same rotuine, but maybe too fast or whatever- I think getting COLD yest with the temp I started crowching up with my body- you know tightening up- and boy not nice today i'ts is much warmer and ate a small chili hot dog w out bread- no problems. Was ready to call DR--- and wala fix itself. this happends every once in a blue moon- I do not know why.

Better to know the bad stuff going in, and it's up to you whether you want to deal with it. Some are lucky, like Honk, but most of us have a few problems here and there. Only you can weigh if it's worth the potential problems... for me it was. When I read about people's various problems before I was banded, the overwhelming majority said problems or not, they'd do it again. That was what convinced me...

I've had a lot of problems myself... In fact, I'm having revision surgery a week from today. Even with all that, I'd do it again.

Sounds like your band may have slipped.

I have had my band for 2.5 months and have had no acid reflux/sliming/pb'ing etc (knocking on wood)

As I eat if I feel like some food is making me slightly uncomfortable I either slow down or stop eating till I feel better. My weight loss has been decent and i'm loving this so far

My band hasn't slipped...I have scar tissue under the band around my stomach, per the doctor. Hoping that I can find a way to keep it.

I went today to Drs. they did the flourscopy... band is great! little irritated he said but great -took out 1 cc for a couple of months said should relieve the problems I have been having at night with acid / refulx and night coughs etc. I know trying to eat between jobs or when I get off at 10 PM etc has not been the best I can do for my band- but I am soooo relived that it is in perfect condition... :):P

Whew, so glad everything is ok. That is scary, and something all of us 2 plus banded worry about. Good luck.

I went through this for almost a year. Fluid in, fluid out. All the co-pays were expensive, so I ended up having my hiatal hernia repaired in Feb (was done during surgery 5/2010). I felt good for about a month, then came the symptoms again! I decided to go to a different Dr and low and behold, 4 tests and a few months later in Sept I had my gallbladder removed. I have never felt so lethargic, I just knew it was something! I feel so much better now just 7 weeks later it's amazing. I hope you find some relief, the puking/reflux/fatigue really started to extinguish my motivation and social life. Amazing what our bodies can take!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
