tishy5 0 Posted April 4, 2006 Hello, I'm seriously considering lap band surgery. I'd like to talk to others that have had it done and get a little encouragement to have it done. I prefer old fashioned snail mail. I look forward to meeting all of you. thanx

Penni60 45 Posted April 7, 2006 Hey there you two. I would love to chat with you guys. Ask anything here and I am sure you will get lots of answers. I was banded two years ago today, April 6. In Dec or 2005 I was diagnosed with Band Erosion and had to have my band removed. I had my band for 18 months. I lost around 70 lbs with my band. Since I have gained some of that weight back but I am struggling every day with fighting this battle.
*susan* 1,709 Posted April 7, 2006 Hi Penni, I just have a quick question. If someone has to have their band removed due to slippage or erosion, is it possible to be re-banded once you are healed?
Penni60 45 Posted April 7, 2006 Hi Penni, I just have a quick question. If someone has to have their band removed due to slippage or erosion, is it possible to be re-banded once you are healed? Yes, most docs won't even consider thinking about another type of surgery for 6 months. They want you to heal and adjust to life without the band before you begin to think about another surgery of any type. Some docs will take the band out and do a Duodenal Switch or even a bypass at the same time. It just depends on the band surgeon. Mine won't even discuss my options till the 6 months are up. That will be in June or July of this year.
