hely88 883 Posted November 7, 2012 I drink 2-3 cups a day with sf coffee mate, but if you are not sure you may want to talk to your doctor.
okiekatt 40 Posted November 7, 2012 Funny that you mention this, I was just in the ER Monday morning, I had been a little on the tight side for a few months and had been trying to wait it out , Sat I had a stuck episode hoping it would just get better, by sun it was hell in a handbasket NOTHING was going down, was trying to ride it out until Monday when I could run in for a slight unfil, almost made it 3am monday was in the ER, BUT what I learned is Decaf is better for you, that for every 1 cup of caffeinated fluids that you take in, you pee 1 ½ cups which in turn can make you dehydrated and even in the slightest case of dehydration it makes your stoma swell (really all your insides) so my doc suggested that I switch my morning coffee and Protein to decaf and the several glasses of tea throughout the day needs to change as well. funny how the littlest things can really jack up your day. amcolling 4 Posted November 7, 2012 I've been drinking regular coffee since week two- never had a problem. One vice I won't give up- enjoy it too much 1 vmarlau reacted to this
CHEZNOEL 4,061 Posted November 7, 2012 I use Decaf coffee and tea when available, but no problems with regular. It will dehydrate you faster so be careful!
Banjo257 920 Posted November 8, 2012 All I know is reg coffee has a lot of acidity and my future surgeon FORBIDS it. Decaf she says still has some caffeine. But thst's just one docs opinion. I'd love an iced coffee right now!!!!! 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
tpenny90 6 Posted November 8, 2012 I thought I was told only Decaf coffee and teas. I use sugar free Creamer and sugar free flavored Syrup from Sam's. I've been without caffeine since my 1 week preop diet and I banded on 10/24. Don't really miss it, but wanted to make sure I could have the decaf stuff. Thanks everyone for the info

harleymelm 4 Posted November 8, 2012 Hi my name is harleymelm and I'm a coffeholic! I work in the medical field and drink at least a pot a day. They gave me a cup of coffee in the hospital the morning after surgery. I'm afraid to give it up for fear I'll have massive withdrawal headaches from giving up the caffeine. harleymelm
