Air In Torso Issue

Recommended Posts

Wondering if anyone else has had this issue? I don't know what's causing it, but in maybe the last week, week and a half, my torso just balloons with air (You can tell by the way my stomach pokes out), and it's making it pretty impossible to eat. I switched to a Protein shake for Breakfast because I got sick of wasting food that comes back up. lunch is usually hit or miss (miss for sure when there's air), and dinner is also the same. If food comes up I usually wait a little bit and have a shake to supplement.

But the only thing I can think of is the .5 CC I got put in at my last appointment. I'm at 5.5CC in a 10CC band, and didn't have NEAR as much air issues before the fill. And I had been sitting at 5CC's for over 3 months prior to that.

I just tried to have tuna for lunch (shredded no less!), and I had about an ounce of the 2 ounces, and it came up. Considering the consistency of the food, it shouldn't of had any issues, except that I had air build up :( trying to get it out, but to no avail.

Any suggestions? I don't know why it happens, but when it does I can't eat anything!

Id call the Doctor. I saw someone else post about much the same thing. Im sorry that I was rather dismissive. Two now. Too much for coincidence. Have you been drinking soda? Hope you find the cause. Id have been on the phone already to my Doctor. Good Luck! Sandy

I don't drink soda, so I know that's not a cause. I drink Water and Protein Shakes mostly. It's pretty annoying though LOL almost as bad as eating the same thing and the first time I eat it, it comes up...try it a few hours later, and everything is fine.

When was your fill? I always struggle a good week and a half after fill. But maybe too tight...I've had a little of that but, mostly belching! I have to learn to eat slower and take smaller bites...something I have to work hard at my band us at a 6cc in 10 band.

I got a small fill on 10/16. Which I knew was coming cause my weight loss had slowed. But the whole air in torso is obnoxious :/ I'd rather go back to 5CC at this point. I don't each that much as it is now, so I wouldn't be over eating...my mental perception of food caught up with...so big plates freak me out :) haha

Definitely sounds like a small unfill may help you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
