How Exactly Did You Lose 50 Plus Pounds

Recommended Posts

Thank you all so much. I am trying to get the scale to move like the rest of you and it does not seem to work. I have 5.5 cc into band, I track my calories, I push my fluids, and am now trying to exercise at least 3 times a week but things don't seem to move. I loss 24 lbs total, banded 9/24, but just can't move things like I need to. HELP!

I was banded 9/25, 1 day after you, 2 cc was put in my band at surgery, NO fills and I'm down 20 lbs total including pre-op and post op. Dr & NUT saying I'm doing great but I feel like I should have lost more! I'm sooo impatient! I exercise, eat 3 meals, 1 cup of food at each meal. I'm going to start tracking my calories now. I want this bad!

Love this post and I am with you on this one. I had my first post op appt today and the Dr. said everything looks great and is going great! I have lost 28lbs pre and post op but have not lost anything in about 5 days. I know this happens and I am not to worried about that right now. I have been walking a mile a day for the past few days, and I eat green Beans, chicken breast and mushrooms sautee'd in 1ts of light butter and that is about it. I have been having a hard time keeping up with my Protein intake, i get around 40g a day and Water. My job sucks so it is hard to grab something when I need it and am hungry. I have no fill with my surgery, and I get my first fill Nov 28! I can't wait. :)

Now to all you successful beauties out there.. what did you all eat meal wise? Give some examples Pleaaasee! like what you all have for Breakfast, m lunch and dinner. I need to find a nut, are they expensive? Thanks so much all in advance and always helping .. you all are so appreciated.

I just wanted to say don't just rely on what the scale says. Check your measurements from time to time and also be tuned in to how your clothes fit. Sometimes you lose inches and it takes time for the lbs to catch up. Also I try really hard not to be too hard on myself. I know this is for the long haul and I have to stick with it.

I just find it so hard when I do not see the scale go down. I track everything in the app called Lose it! I eat 3 meals and try to get in as much Fluid as possible but still do not seem to be losing anymore. I exercise at least 3 times weekly. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

I lost 140 by my first band anniversary. I tracked calories and worked out. 1000 when I was losing, today I aim for 1700 to maintain. I combined cardio, hot yoga (HUGE calorie burner! I burned 935 calories a session!) and weight training w floor exercises. And i always tried to replace what i burned since the calories in calories out rule boosts metabolism. I fluctuate between 127 and 133 pounds now. :)

I just cannot break the 300 lb. I exercise 3 times weekly and track my calories. I know it will come but it just stresses me that nothing else will come off.

One bite, one meal, one day, one pound at a time. Be a compliant patient!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
