Ms WoWo 2 Posted November 6, 2012 I am 4 weeks post op. Have been walking and doing the elliptical at no resistance. When I ask my Doctor's office what other types of exercise I can do the only answer I get is "4-6 weeks" for exercise. It's been 4 weeks. I want a straight answer on what and when. I've seen people in the forums jogging at 2 weeks and others say no core work for 8 weeks. What was your dr's advice?
wildrose1966 396 Posted November 6, 2012 I could only walk for 6 weeks.......put on my headphones and walked about an hour a day. It wasn't that bad. Just went back to the gym this week - ouch 1 Ms WoWo reacted to this
Kime-lou 648 Posted November 6, 2012 Walking for the first 3 weeks, then any cardio until week 6. I was told NO abdominal exercise for 6 weeks. I made the mistake of trying at 4 and really hurt myself- muscle pulls. They didn't recommend jogging until at least week 3-4 depending on soreness. I think to a degree it is dependant on how large you are to begin with, you age, and your fitness level. You can be fat and still fairly fit or you can be fat with no muscle at all. I ask specifically about the total gym because I have one- I was told that I could work my legs starting at week 3, but to wait on anything else until week 6 due to pulling on ab muscles- of course this is after I had already torn one
FLORIDAYS 3,040 Posted November 6, 2012 I was told I could walk only for the first month. Because I healed really well I was cleared for all other activity following that first month. If you do not uinderstand what the Dr is telling you ask him again until you get the information you need.
