DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted November 6, 2012 It's possible you're developing an incisional hernia. Again, I'm just guessing from my own experience, I could be totally wrong. I'd ask your doc to check it out.
lauradevans 52 Posted November 6, 2012 If very painful... don't hesitate to call your doc or the one on call for him/her. I only have occasional pain but I think it's just the internal stiches healing and/or my insides gettign use to things...

I've had many hernias since giving birth to my son 10 years ago, in fact I had emergency surgery for a strangulated hernia this past August. When they first started, it felt like you describe but no bulge. It wasn't until they were considerably bigger and pushed through the abdominal fat that I could see them. Kamster 0 Posted November 6, 2012 Kristie I am 4 days PO and have experienced a lot of burning. Mine has been very similar to gastritis. I spoke with my Dr. Who said that there is an inflammatory response that takes place that usually starts 2 days after surgery. Some PTs have a lot of burning due to this. This is normal IF you are tolerating liquids and are not throwing up. The pain meds help with the burning. Don't be afraid to use them.

pushagrrl 11 Posted November 6, 2012 I have this pain but to the right of my belly button in between two incisions. I am 17 days post op. The pain is bad when i walk, which stinks. I called the doctor friday about it but the NP said its a normal healing process and that it is where my port is stitched in my muscle. Its been hurting like this since last thursday. The NP told me to try ibprofen and ice packs. Neither worked on this burning pain for me. They told me to call back if i needed something stronger but i havent yet because the stronger stuff just knocks me out and I cant do anything. I hope you and I are pain free soon!
