No, you're not doing anything wrong...you are still healing post op and there is swelling involved in the healing process.

Do your best to get your fluids in every day to stay properly hydrated. I remember that at that stage I was not able to get all of the recommended fluids either. I kept a bottle of Water with me at all times and sipped from it frequently.

The first few days are the worst...it does get much better fast!

Best wishes...

I had the same problem after banding. My Water filled me, so had hard time with anything else.

Jean McMillian, author of Bandwagon, told me to drink 1oz every 15 mins.

Thats exactly how i felt, and i did even less than you. I am post 8 days today... Today I had 6oz of liquids all day....the most I got of liquids each day 1-8 has been maybe 8oz....I have been in pain all eight days. I feel gross and hate even drinking or anything. My oz came from Popsicles all week. I ate about 5 Popsicles a day and ate about half of each one before throwing away. today I went back to work, and it was terrible. I can't sit properly, driving my car was so bad, so painful. Hoping tomoorow I will feel much better.... I hope you feel better as well!!!

Btw, I was told, the first week it's okay if I didn't get my protien in, important to just stay hydrated...this week I have to start with the protien...

8 days out and only 6 oz is not good.

You need to talk with your Dr. You might be feeling so bad b/c your dehydrated.

Please call your Dr!

Lots of gas, that's what caused most of my discomfort. I couldn't even take a deep breath. You really should be taking in at least 48-60 oz of Fluid a day and at least 16-24 of that should be Protein, its tedious but you have to take a sip every few min. my doctor said it should take me 12 hours to drink all of that. And take a Vitamin. If you don't you're body will start to break down your muscle, you will be weak and can start losing hair and just feeling plain terrible. Commit to a sip every 3-5 min. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
