sweetmfl 1 Posted November 5, 2012 Hi Everyone! I was banded in Jan. 2012 and so far I've lost 41 lbs. I finally got my band filled in July to the point that I feel it was doing what it was intended. The thing is I have a couple bad molars and I'm actually missing a few of the very back ones that got infected by impacted wisdom teeth. I find it really hard to chew the food to the consistency needed to not throw it back up again. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what is the fix? It would be impractical for me to put everything I eat in a blender and at this point in time I can't afford dentures. Thanks!
♕ajtexas♕ 3,771 Posted November 5, 2012 You might try really really small bits. I would stay away from meats that are really chewy, steak, etc. try fish, much easier to mush up in your mouth. Good luck to you. 2 2justme and sweetmfl reacted to this
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted November 5, 2012 You wouldn't need dentures, just a partial to replace the missing back teeth. I would look into it because chewing is so crucial to eating properly with the band. 2 sweetmfl and Toddy reacted to this

Hopefully you will make getting dentures, a partial or other dental treatment a top priority because oral health is very important and can be the root of other issues and infections. Until you are able to do that I would suggest sticking to soft foods. You can get Protein from eggs, cottage cheese, lean meat and expecially fish. I hope you are able to get the dental help necessary soon. 4 DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!, 2justme, sweetmfl and 1 other reacted to this
kyrasgrandma 228 Posted November 5, 2012 I also have a couple of back molars missing. I went to the dentist just before my surgery to make sure all my teeth were cavity free. Ended up getting two fillings. I compensate for my missing back molars by taking smaller bites. It does seem to help. 2 2justme and sweetmfl reacted to this
2justme 15 Posted November 5, 2012 I have that problem also, and I agree with all the advice everyone above I am missing 2 bottom teeth on each side, So I stay away from beef or pork (I don't really like beef or pork anyway so that is a good thing LOL!) I've gotten to where I don't eat much chicken anymore either unless it's chicken salad I should go get a partial but being a mom I always put hubs and kids first and me last 1 sweetmfl reacted to this
Rojasanoll 920 Posted November 6, 2012 I use to chop in a blender chicken breasts so they are shredded and smaller. Not much chewing this way. 1 sweetmfl reacted to this
Mayasgram 351 Posted November 6, 2012 I am waiting until Jan for my partial because my insurance will then pay for it, and I have had extensive dental work already this year. I cracked a lot of teeth in a car accident. So inconvieent or not you need your Protein so once a day put some meat in a blender I used the Bullet and blened it I can still not get steak down this way but in the begining thats what I had to do. Take chicken and blend it add some mayo to it same with tuna, and pork with barbque to moisten it and it slides down you can take this with you anywhere. Eating out eat fish it slides easy or cut food really tiny . Hope this helps. 1 sweetmfl reacted to this
