Please Help. Surgery Question

Recommended Posts

I have my lap band scheduled for Dec 15. Unfortunately I have developed a case of ringworm. I'm terrified they might postpone/cancel my surgery because of it. Anyone have any experience with this? Really upset and worried. Currently treating it but its so difficult to remove as anyone who's ever had it can testify.

Ringworm is a fungus much as athletes foot is. I can't imagine this would impact surgery.

I also can't see why it would stop you having surgery. Some antifungal cream should clear it up.

Depends on where it is if its in your belly probably yes they will .... That was one of the first things my doctor told me if I developed any kind of rash or any type of anything to call him because whatever it is that you develop needs to be treated first ... Well at least that's what my doctor said good luck and call your doctor!

Medication should clear it up by then but I would make sure your MD knows you have or had this incase he wants to premedicate you prior to surgery. If you do have the surgery and the infection is not in the area of your surgey you will need to be careful with cross contamination in your incisions. Good hand washing is key.
