Should I Go For A Fill Alone?

Recommended Posts

Sometimes shots or giving blood makes me light headed. (Possibly a bit of phobia) I used to be on the depo shot and was able to do that alone. Is it more painful than that. Do you guys usually take someone with you when you are filled?

Sometimes my husband goes with me just to go but it's not because I need him there. It's not bad at all to me and my surgeon doesn't even numb me first.

I always go for my fills alone. If I don't watch (which I make sure of!), I can usually not even tell when the surgeon has stuck the needle in.

It barely hurts honestly

My doc didnt numb the area and it hurt less then getting a blood test.

I had one fill and drove home 65 mins alone and had absolutely no issues!

I don't think you'll feel light headed since your not gonna lose any blood!

If you're really concerned about it, you can always take someone with you the first time just in case. After that, you'll know what to expect and can (hopefully) go alone.

I always go alone; it takes about 5 minutes and I'm in and out; I have a HUGE fear of needles; but the fills do not bother me. ~ good luck ~

My mom usually goes with me, but that's because we usually go shopping and do lunch afterwards. You really should be fine by yourself if you have to.

My first fill only hurt when the PA pushes around to find the port. I was 5 wks post op and it hurt for a few days... Not the needle though, just the pushing around.

I go again tomorrow for my 2nd fill! Was supposed to be last Monday but Hurricane Sandy changed that!

Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
