Get Soooo Tired After Eatin

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I had my surgery on 10/24, 10 days ago. I am on full liquids, however I admit that I have eaten a couple non-full liquid meals like a little of my husband's rice casserole. The casserole was soft and didn't cause any problems. My main concern is how tired I get after I eat meals. I am mainly talking about the full liquid meals, like cream of chicken or cream of potato Soup. I can only eat about 1/2 cup and I am full, then then I feel sooo tired and EXTREMELY sleepy. I don't know what I am going to do once I return to work on Monday. I won't be able to take a quick nap after meals. I must admit taking a brisk walk afterward does help with the full feeling and wakes me up a bit, but I just can't understand why I get so tired.

Are you getting in your Protein and Water quota?

That was about the time I went through a tiredness, but not connected with eating.

You are probably right, I just received my order of Unjury Protein Powder supplement yesterday. I need to begin using it. You are also right about my Water intake, I know I have to improve with that. So, do you think that could be the problem?

If you have been napping for the last 10 days, your body is probably use to it and expects it, you need to stop the napping and fight thru it.

Most definitely! You should have been doing Protein shakes about 7 days ago.

Really important you keep hydrated too.

Work on that , I'm sure you'll feel better.

You are still in the healing stage. I felt the same way and had to nap! But you probably are not eating much Protein. Make sure you have that and your chewable vitamins. Drink plenty of water!!!!! It was a feat the first two months to feel back to real normal. I'm two years banded now or almost, and a lot of posts are some similar experiences in which we all learn from, avoid, or gain knowledge. Hope you get feeling better.

Thank you all so much for your input, it has definitely helped me a lot. I am going to increase my Protein intake and liquids. I can't wait to feel my "new normal."

@Melony, yes I have the left side shoulder pain too at times, usually it's after I have eaten. I have my husband rub my back and shoulders and it really feels good afterward. I am off the pain meds now, so this has helped a lot.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
