It's hard and we all know it. Try same food only spread it out over 6 smaller servings. Know that we miss the party in our mouths and the taste of food.

Before everyone gets all in a tizzy I can honestly say I rarely got hungry after I got the sugar out of my system. But I sure did miss food and the taste of it.

Try eating warm foods that really helps me, tea, hot chocolate, Once in a while try this Take and apple dice it up add a spritz of Water some cinnamon and sweetner microwave it presto a warm fruit serving add some no cal cool whip. and eat it slowly and then slower really savor it. then eat only 1/2 and save the rest. Thats how you learn control..My go to food is always chicken broth in a cup. Good Luck you can do this and pretty soon food will be a take it or leave it.

What you're going through is normal. It's very likely you won't feel any difference until after multiple fills. In the meantime, all you can do is try to make good food choices and limit your portions.

Please keep in mind when you do have adequate Fluid in your band, it still isn't supposed to stop you from eating anything. Portion Control will always be your job. Here's a link to better explain it: http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-eating/lap-band-not-restriction/lap-band-and-restriction.html

Best wishes.

I was just looking for posts to see if anyone felt this was. I am 2 weeks post and I feel like I can eat the same as before the band. I feel like I am never going to lose weight this way. I have cheated a few times this weekend eating a few chips. Then I feel bad. Will the fill help you from being able to eat as much. Ism just getting worried that it is not going to work.....

Love the "tizzy" notation. It has been a week of attitudes. Really like you mayasgram, and respect your opinion and insight.

I feel the same way.. I am about the same as you.. I am about 3 weeks post op.. and I just hit mushies.. although I am actually eating soft foods now.. but i chew till they are mushy. lol.. nurse said I could.. just make sure everything is very soft. But ya, you have proved you can control yourself.. it is going to take awhile before we change our miind and the way we view food.. I feel like I can eat so much.. but I server me a cup .. i eat it. I do feel satisfied on the smaller portion .. although I KNOW i can eat a lot more.. I stop. and it's hard... very hard.. sometimes I feel like I am going to lose control... and binge.. because of the weeks of deprivation... but I can't.. and I won't. I know it's in my mind... my tummy growls like crazy all day... my problem is, at work.. i can't eat a bunch of small meals.. I have to eat fast.. which i try so hard not to do.. and drink... my job sucks.. and its very busy... so I lose track of time.

Just know hun.. it is going to get better... a few chips isn't the end of the world.. you got back on it.. and that is the important thing. OOh.. if you like greenbeans.. I make eggs and green Beans scrambled up.. with light butter... and omg its great!! try it.. my mom use to make that for us so we could eat veggies... lol.. good luck and remember we are here for ya! message me anytime.

My doctor told me that the first 4 weeks is just the band with no fill so that my body can get used to it. He also said that my stomach will be normal size so I essentially can eat what I want still - of course your not suppose to though. I think there will be a difference with your first fill.

OK tummys growling.... Dr Oz was on Oprah and he said , when your tummy is growling especially at night it is not telling you you are hungry It is telling you you are BURNING FAT...

I have no idea if it's true but that comment got me through a lot of rumbly nights. And Dr Oz wouldn't lie right.....

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
