Having Surgery On Thursday!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, my name is Angela and I am being banded on Thursday Nov 8. I have been reading, reading, and reading some more on this forum for weeks trying to soak up all of the info that I can. Im so nervous but excited at the same time. I have had 2 c-sections so I know a little about the pain part of it. Im a little worried about the gas though as I get gas pains already normally without surgery..lol. Anyway...my question is, how does everyone get their Protein in while on the clear liquid phase? I know I wont be very hungry because I will be swollen but I cant imagine not getting weak or lightheaded if just drinking Water or Clear liquids for a few days. I'm anxious to get this part over with for sure! :)

Angela

While on liquid phase Protein Shakes are how you get the Protein, however if you are like me ( I'm only 4 days in) I am not hungry at all and wouldn't be able to stomach protein shakes so I am taking milk because its high in protein and its the protein needed for healing

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
