Ok, I'm a dental hygienist. I'm up and down and bending over all day. I had my surgery on Friday, November 2nd and went back to work Monday, November 5th. The first day was rough, but I made it. The main thing is to get up and walk a lot the first few days. I have a 20 month old daughter, so that forced me to get moving soon!

So glad to see this topic! I've been wondering the same thing. I teach kindergarten and just got approved for my surgery. It will either be on Dec. 18th or Jan.15. My last day of school before the break is Dec. 19th-- the day after surgery. There are so many things going on at this time of year, like hosting a family get together, that I have been leaning more toward the Jan. date--- just hate to take off so much time from school. My surgeon's office will let me know next week which date for sure. I'm kinda worried about the 2 week liquid diet before the surgery as well-- wondering if I will be weak and jittery and how that will affect my classroom. Good luck with your surgery!

I work at an elementary school and scheduled my surgery for December 17th. Taking that week and Christmas week off. I'm hoping to be ready to go back the first of the new year. I plan on having great resolutions for 2013!

I'm right there with you! Surgery is on the 18th, taking the rest of the week off after that + our Christmas break … I work w/ high risk youths … breaking up fights is most likely not a good post-op idea! LOL! :P

I am an itinerant special education teacher and I had my surgery on April 26th--which was a Thursday. I went back to work on Monday--mostly because I had an ARD/IEP meeting I had to attend and it was near the end of the year and I really needed to be there. I was very sore and really should have taken half a day off, but didn't. I will admit that I went home and took a nap before picking up my son from daycare. I didn't tell anyone that I had the band surgery...I told them that I had a hernia repair (which I did). If I were to do it again I would have done it the same way...it felt better to get up and get back into my usual routine. Good luck to you.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
