Awe cut nnicole some slack. She's one of the sweetest people on here!

I didn't know you could get wls with a BMI of 30 unless self pay. Good to know. How did your insurance authorize it? Did you need another condition linked to being overweight? What insurance do you have. I'd love to have some of my friends switch to ones that don't cause issues with authorization.

Yes you can I think it is determined by York physician. I talked with my insurance co before I did anything else found out what the requirements were I think I will be alright. I have years and years worth of documents about my health and weight struggles. Looking forward to Monday I meet with my primary physician and attend the seminar about lap band. As for Nicoole the lesson is don't judge people I may not be morbidly obese but obese I am and don't want to be or have more health problems.

That's really great news! I started my journey in the obese range too. The tiresome struggle with my weight over the last 10 years is what brought me here. I was a skinny child teen and young adult. Life traumas caught up to me though.

To get the surgery though I actually had to get a diagnosis for sleep apnea before my insurance Would approve. I'm glad insurance companies are rethinking their position. I'm doing amazing and loving my new life. It's saving me from myself.

Being obese and morbidly obese is the same thing though. I'm no better because of my bmi. I relate to the 65+ bmi as I do with the 30 bmi. We are all just children of pain working toward a common goal.

I wish you the best of success on your journey.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
