Very hard....I'm day five and I've barley touched anything. I found that on day four i tried a freeze pop and loved it...so today I've had four freeze pops...it counts as are liquids so I'm just having one every time I think I'm feeling hungry or remember to get in fluids.

As far as chewable Vitamins I'm scared to eat..if we can't even have pudding for two weeks then I can't imagine swallowing a chewy Vitamin. I'm going to do liquids.

I am just so surprised that yall didnt have a dietician/nutritionist sit you down oe, two or three times and go over what can be used on the diets both pre and post op. If yer self pay they would have an even higher levwl of responsibility to make sure you have it all in writing, etc. This is just totally unacceptable unless there is something I am missing. Malabsorb my arse, you could starve to death. This isnt healthy! What am I missing? Somebody, PLEase tell me! That makes this scenario okay!

Are you banded yet? No amount of appointments before surgery will tell you how much swelling you will have, how you will react to anesthesia, or if you will be nauseated. It differs patient by patient. The first few days is rough. All we can hope for is to be dedicated to sip sip sip until the effects wear off!

I wouldn't do Gummy but the chewable ones turn to chalk in your mouth so those won't hurt at all.

I didn't get to eat anything until my fourth day (long story) but I was getting IV fluids. But when I could finally eat I had no problems getting in what I needed. If you have Protein Shakes that have 20 grams of Protein like the eas and drink three you will get in enough. I couldnt take the darn chicken broth past the first day I could have it but the sugar free popsicles were my saving grace. I never sipped I drank lol I think I have more swelling after a fill then after the surgery lol

it was hard to drink/sip fluids as you are swollen but my surgeon advised to sip as often as i can to stay

hydrated and i also lived on popsicles which were my life savers. as the days pass, it will get easier but def work on sipping as much Protein as you can as they is your fuel and will fill you up.

i did and do the chewables *my dr advised me no gummies* but all dr's are different

hang in there okay

you can do it :)

The first week was hard. Glad I was on Clear Liquids first three days. At first full liquids were hard too, but everyday got easier & easier. At 2 wks I'm able to get in all my requirements. I take Centrum chewables along with chewable Calcium. I actually chew them together b/c taste of calcium isn't bad, but multi is just bearable. Dr said no gummies too!

The first week I hardly ate anything. I didn't even come close to getting my food requirements. After that it gets easier.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
