I was going to guess you were newly banded. Your stitches are still healing so you are just sore. No worries. No different than when you first had surgery and coughing, breathing, or going to the bathroom may have been painful... You should be fine. :)

The crazy part is I was fine for days now I sneeze and that didnt hurt but then soon after it is like I got punched in the sternum and did 1,000 situps!! Could the sneezes have released gas into my chest cavity?? Im ten days out and this is killer. I cant even lie down.

playing doctor could have very bad results new dawn. I would recommend discontinuing this approach, and tell them to talk with their doctor or on call physician asap! JMO. Sandy

many people say a heating pad helps too, I would suggest that if you have one... I hope it passes soon

i agree new dawn

well band, i am not sure if you had a hernia repair also (i did) and it hurt to breath or move and etc,,,,,it was uncomfortable to say the least i would take some more tylenol and as new dawn says, use a heat pad if that helps (i mean it is gonna take some time) as you are still swollen and healing. BUT, if it hurts so bad you are about at your wits end, give

your dr a jingle and them know just in case.

hang in there GF

its not easy but it is worth it :)

I'm almost 3 wks post op and had hernia repair and even to this day, I can still feel it some. At night when I roll over I can really feel it. I sneeze a lot and at first it was no,no. As time goes on will get better.

They say 6 wks for full recovery.

If it does concern you, check with surgeon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
