My doctor and I see many others post to keep meals under a cup and have a small snack between first two meals. So I am able to get in 1000-1200 per day and am losing about 2 lbs per week.

Are you doing any Protein shakes? Some say not to replace food with liquids, however, by doing a Protein shake and adding things to it, like fruits (mixed berried, banana, peaches, etc.), you can be getting lots of Protein (powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein powder has 21g protein per scoop) as well as some bulk and calories from the fruit. You can add yogurt too if you are having a hard time meeting the calorie requirement.

When you do chicken and veges, try stir fry with a little bit of olive oil. You can get some healthy calories in that way too. As ANewDawn mentioned (above), I was also told to eat up to one cup per meal and that it was okay to have a snack in between if necessary. Sometimes diabetics can't go 5 hours without a snack, so they eat every 3 hours or so, and even non diabetics that have difficulty going such long stretches can have a snack in between but usually it is advised to keep it to 100 calories or so.

I think you can get creative with your food choices to meet the caloric intake. Eating too few calories will slow down your metabolism and inhibit weight loss. Some people will post a sample of what they ate for one whole day, and ask for advice. Perhaps you want to do that? I think the Lap band community is very helpful with suggestions and ideas to tweak your daily diet.

And don't worry, you'll get this right. It just takes time and sometimes bouncing things off of other people if you don't have a structured support system yet.

well mainly i keep my meals simply as i am up at 5 and don't actually get home till 630-7 most nights,, and as of this week its about to get a lot more hectic when i start my second job,,

so Breakfast is usually yoghurt or baked Beans or just a tin of tuna , fruit , boil egg mashed up with tin tuna or tin chicken, on days when i am home i make an omelet

lunch is usually tin of tuna with steamed vegies,, or chicken with steamed vegies, Peanut Butter on rice crackers , tin tuna salad tin chicken salad, a shake if im really pressed for time

dinner can be steamed vegies or mashed sweet potato and pumpkin with a peace of chicken or fish,

so umm yea,, i really havnt got much of a range,, im both money restricted and time restricted unfortuntly

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
