Getting Completely Filled The First Year

Recommended Posts

I have been reading some post where people are getting up to nine fills in a year and that they had 9cc

s in their 10cc band. My question is: If you get all filled up the first year what will you have to work with there after? Once you get to about 5 or maybe six, or even before then, your doctor should be filling you slowly. You can not expect to not have some control in this matter. You can not expect for your doctor to fill your band completely because what happens when you lose weight the band will become loose and when you cant tighten it anymore what are you going to do? You will gain weight back. Go slow on the fills and relax. You have to put forth some effort in the journey.

It's difficult to judge how many fills and how much each fill should be because we are all different. We have different starting weights, different goals, different responses to the band and to the effect of each fill.

You are right that we have to put effort into this journey, but I disagree with making a blanket statement about not getting all filled up in the first year. That part of it really is an individual journey between each bandster and their medical team.

I understand it is ones personal decision however as you lose weight the band gets loose there fore you need fills. If you are completely filled and lose weight and the band gets loose you can not get it tighter because there is no where for them to put more Fluid.< /p>

I have had only 2 fills and I have a total 4.5cc in a 14cc band. But the doctor is starting to hesitate in any more fills because he only wants me too lose no morfe than 2 pounds a week. This will allow me to eat wise and properly over a longer period of train. To retrain my brain and change my eating habits. I don't know if I'm close to a green zone or not, but he likes my weight loss so far.

Guess I'm doing something right.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
