Use your heating pad right on top oif the pain areas. It does wonders. I had a bit of pain under my breast bone area after surgery on Aug 6 (hernia) and it did wonders to put the heating pad on top of my chest. The go to lower back for 15 minutes and on top of your shoulders. The gas gets trapped all ove ryour body cavity and the heat, walking and SIP the Water all helps. Take pain meds as directed especially for sleeping. DO NOT tough the pain out! Nobody cares if you're tough or not.

Best wishes

Banded on Friday 11/2 and I agree, I had less pain with my 2 c-sections! Having a hard time getting all of the Water in, I feel so full. My back is aching and can't sleep because im a belly sleeper. The minute I even try to turn a little to my side it feels like all of my insides are floating around lol. I had a hernia repair as well, I'm sure that doesn't help. I hope I feel better soon. I own my own business and it can't run without me, which means no income :(

WOW! Look at all of us Halloween bandsters! We should start a group. I am on full liquids and am feeling pretty good....no pain meds since Friday night. I did have some Beans with cornbread mushed up a lot and it went down fine. My port site is my biggest incision and the most tender but bearable. The most discomfort is the itching from where the bandaids were...I must have a sensitivity to tape/adhesive I wasn't aware of. I'm down 4.4 since surgery (I gained 2 pounds day after from gas I assume). I'm down 25.8 from my starting weight of 246.

Hi everyone. I'm 7 days post op. The first four days were rough. All I had was sugar free Popsicles (my saving grace) and Water. I had some chicken broth too. My stomach turned to unbearably itchy over the weekend and today it's actually way better. I've eaten pudding and yogurt with no problems. My mom made me Soup too and I haven't had an issue yet. Working was rough this weekend and I felt extreme tightness in my chest- I'm assuming because I wasn't walking a lot and my lunch got stuck. I've only lost 5lbs though. Starting 220 down to 215.

Oh by the way- liquid Witch Hazel from your local pharmacy kept in the fridge- works wonders for my incisions and itching. It's a natural astringent. Best thing ever!

I was banded on Oct 31st too.

Today is the first day I have had no pain other than a liitle tenderness deep at the site of the port.

I am surprized at all the different diets. My center has a 3 phase post op diet. All three phases include Multivitamin and Calcium supplements

Phase 1: Blended-Smooth, lasts for the first 2 weeks and includes a primary focus of getting in 64 oz fluids, and Proteins of 60-70 grams per day...foods up to 1/2 cup of blended/smooth such as yogurt or pureed cottage cheese, apple sauce, ect.. No lumps no chunks no pieces no strings, everything must be blended.

Phase 2: lasts thru week 6 and is called the Soft food stage. Fluids and porteins remain priority. Can consume up to 1 cup per meal ( or less if feeling full). Foods must be moist and soft. avoiding red meats, shellfish, pork, bread, Pasta, rice, and most raw fruits and veggies

Phase 3 is week 7 and beyond... continue with Fluid and Protein guidelines, add in foods with normal textures, at week 12 you can try raw fruits and veggies . Avoid foods with added sugar, alcohol, high fat dairy products, most pastas, rice and untoasted breads, tough skins on fruits and veggies, stringy-fiberous veggies, creamsauses or cream Soups, tough-stringing meats, poultry & seafood, grilled fried or microwaved foods, sticky foods such as gum, corn, mashed potatoes

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
