This Is Very True

Recommended Posts

I do have a sweet every once in a while, but it is ONE bite and that is very satisfying for me. It has to be whatever you can manage/control. Everyone handles sweets different. Most of us know our triggers and we need to manage them and keep them in control. My NUT doesn't say no to anything as long as it fits in the plan.

And, no Halloween candy last night either. That is an accomplishment, last year I was eating it as I was handing it out!

Yes' date=' eating a little bit of chocolate WAS worth it...I never blamed the candy or the holiday or any such thing. I enjoyed every moment of it! It doesn't make me feel any better or worse to have made MY choice to eat the candy. Pardon me for taking offense at your response, but I never asked for anyone to approve MY decision. My nutritionist, surgeon and bariatric internist did not tell me I couldn't eat candy ever again. I am VERY realistic about my eating and exercise plans and don't need to feel guilty about choosing to eat a little candy. I've been working at this band thing for over two years so I can say with some experience, there is no "cheating", there are no "good or bad" foods, and last of all, I AM NOT ON A DIET![/quote']

Yes! Yes! Good for you. I keep repeating to myself, "I will never diet again". Following every fad diet that came along got me fatter than ever, regaining after every misadventure I went on. Never again and NO GUILT TRIPS.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
