What Can I Eat In The Mushy Stage?

Recommended Posts

My post op was cancelled due to hurricane sandy and we had to evacuate NYC and I don't have my surgery nutrition booklet with me. Can you all share what you could eat when you advanced to mushies 10 days post op?

With my program it was anything pureed. A few of my favorites:

tuna fish, low fat mayo (just enough for consistency), and a pinch of shreded cheese pureed.< /p>

Low fat refried Beans, salsa, and a pinch of cheese pureed and heated.

chicken and low fat vegetable flavored cream cheese pureed and heated.

Scrambled eggs, salsa, and a pinch of cheese pureed and heated.

Also, things like peaches, pears, green Beans, carrots, etc puree pretty good. Greek Yogurt was a staple at this stage.

Good luck!

I'm in the mushy stage too. Here are a few I have had the past couple days.

Egg salad with cottage cheese, and about a tsp of lowfat mayo, pickle juice.

Canned chicken with the broth in the can, pureed. looks gross but doesn't taste bad. Some seasonigs too.

pureed green Beans. Peaches/Cottage cheese.< /p>

I let cheerios SOG in some milk and mashed them HA pretty good.

Mashed potatoes with a little cheese.

That's it so far for me, gonna try some refried Beans and taco sauce tomorrow.

Good Luck, and glad you are safe from the storm

Just make sure to get 2 to 3 oz of Protein per meal and then 1/2 a cup of veggies and 1/2 a cup of fruit if still hungry; but all mushed up.

I have done lots of chicken salad, tuna salad, and egg salad. I spice it up with hot pepper relish.

For dinners, I have been eating what my husband wants and just mushing it up. Last night, I had a 3 oz hot turkey sausage link, 1/4 cup rocatta cheese, and Pasta sauce; it was AMAZING!

And you can still do shakes if that helps too.

But at what day were you allowed to progress from liquid to mushie? I can't believe my doctor is still totally MIA. When you call you get a busy signal no matt what time of day or night. I guess that's what happens when a hospital has no electricity! I think it was day 10, but I want to take a poll to be sure since all my materials are home in NYC.

Wow that must be difficult! Did they give you and literature before surgery? Each program is different. I didn't start mushies until POD 14.

I'm about where you are. Full liquids & mushies are about the same. As long as it runs off back of spoon its considered a liquid. I get grits, anything blenderized as long as it has no meat. I blend veggie Soups, bean Soups, cottage cheese, yogurt and at least 2 Protein shakes a day.

Best wishes!

I started mushy on day 8. Actually, I started the evening before, couldn't take it. Banded on the 23rd. I start 3 meals daily on Sat Nov3rd, everything pureed 1/4 to 1/2 cup at every meal.

Hope this helps.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
