2 Years Post Surgery

Recommended Posts

Saturday marks my 2 anniversary and I have no regrets. I was just over 35 BMI with no medical issues. I was very tired of losing the same 20-25 lbs and never reaching my goal. Well, I am very close; I've lost 48 lbs, wear a size 8 pant and Medium / Large top. This has been a success and well worth the struggles and discipline it took to get here. Yes, I ate the wrong things because my mind wanted to and I suffered short term (weight gain, pain during digestion,etc.). Now, i think i want the peanut M&M so i buy and they sit in the cupboard. i might eventually open and eat a handful or my husband will eat them and i don't care. Today, i am focused on BMI and not weight. I am at 27.6 BMI today and the RN tells me 27% is maintainable level for me. I workout 4-5days a week. Primarily walking for 30 min and strength train using Yoga Booty Ballet. happy days are here.

Sounds like you're doing great! Congratulations! I'm also 2 years out(surgery Dec 2010) I'm about 18 lbs away from my goal, it's gets really hard now, but I'm not gaining, thankful for that.

My original goal weight in my mind was 150lbs. Now, I don't think that is attainable. I have since switched my mind to BMI. RN tells me with my age and that I have had children a realistic goal is 27%; I'm 27.6.. Yesterday, I weighed in at 165 wearing size 8 to 10 pant (depending on designer). I am 5'5" and I remember wearing a size 10 when I was in my early twenties. I've pretty much maintained my weight for 6 months now and enjoy just about anything. I don't eat bread unless its crispy, I have chocolate when I want (and that isn't often or much), I enjoy wine on the occasion too. So I think I'm at my happy spot.

Have you thought about BMI as a measurement?

I too am almost 2 yrs post op... I am 23 BMI and 162 lbs in the mornings. ;)

I have lost 215 lbs and gon from 2 x tops to small or 4/6 and 4x bottoms to 8/10

I had 150 in my lofty dream category and I may get there but I am happy with my body now so if I don't I am ok with it. My friends and family tell me I am done... Since I am tall I suppose the 162 looks thinner than it really is... but I am on a mission to maintain and I know that will be a lifelong battle. I am Hopi g the BA d will do its job and it will be easier than I expect.

But I have some rippling on my thighs and arms, the girls resemble a tube sock with a golf ball inside and my tummy while thankfully isn't horrible could use a little tug...so my belly button will stop sagging. My legs and ankles are still thick but that's hereditary although getting the skin remove might help.

THat said...I am very proud of my accomplishment as I am sure you are as well. It's been fun shopping for the new wardrobe...maybe a little too much...lol

Congrats on your success from someone who knows how good you feel!

Im a year and 1/2 and am pretty much done. I wanted to get to 164, about 6 lbs away, but if I don't get there, not a big deal. I am medium tops and 8/10 on bottoms. I've been this weight for 6 months now, so I think im getting the hang of maintaining, but it is a daily commitment. I still watch that I don't go crazy. Im 46, so things are what they are body wise after three kids...

Great job and congrats to you!!!

What have you all been doing to have such significant weight loses? They usually say you cannot lose that much with lapband. What is your advice?

Great success stories! I'm pretty much satisfied with my weight right now. I'm a large on top and a 10/12 on bottom. My tummy sags a little, but I can live with it. I'm 54 years old. I can eat almost anything I want, just carefully. Keeps me from overeating (thats a great thing about the band, thats what I was hoping for by having the surgery) I feel so such better physically, its amazing!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
