I haven't lost a single pound since I went on Mushies and soft food. I know what your all going to say but I still feel lousy. I was losing weight daily on the shakes then went on Mushies on Friday and stopped. I am so worried I am doing something wrong like still eating too much although I haven't gotten over 1000 calories on any day. Should I be weighing everything and if so how much should I be eating per meal. I never feel any restriction and stop when I feel full. I can eat about 3/4 of a sandwhich on using a smear of chicken salad and light Fiber one bread (thinner and smaller then reg bread) and only about 3/4 of a serving of Farina Cereal.< /p>

Do things change when you get fills?

I don't want to have gone through this surgery and fail.

And my insurance denied me seeing the nutricianist

Well I can tell you that you shouldnt be eating bread right now. Its not considered a mushy. We all feel lousy when we don't lose. Stop weighing yourself everyday. Weight loss is going to stall. It's inevitable. It will happen even to the best dieter. Mushies should be Protein not starchy carbs. I know a lot of people eat mashed potatoes on mushies but I don't push that. It's not a point of stopping when you feel full its a point of stopping when you feel satisfied. You have to look at that in a different way now. For now give up the carbs and concentrate on protein. If you have to eat carbs then try Quaker weight control oatmeal. Its sugar free and has 7 grams of protein. Eat eggs and I wouldnt eat salads (chicken and tuna) even with reduced fat mayo. You are trying to get your body in ketosis which is the only way you are going to burn fat. Dannon light and fit greek yogurt has no fat and 14 grams of protein. You have to decide do you want bread or do you want to burn. I personally want to burn my fat not hold on to it.

Have you talked to your doctor? Did your doctor give you a meal plan? You mentioned that your ins denied the nutritionist, i strongly recommend you pay or a visit yourself. It is important that you follow a health meal plan for yourself. Everyone is different.

My nutritionist has me on a 1200 calorie diet. But, my post op diet was not calorie restricted it was focused on healing. It is not unusual to gain weight during the post op diet.

Hang in there and as I said talk with your doctor and nutritionist.

drinking shakes to lose weight was to help prepare our bodies for surgery.

contemplating just doing shakes/sliders for life is silly and is kinda like what get the band if you are not gonna eat?? i say that because jeannie of bandwagon asked me that same question when i stated to her i was afraid to eat bc i may (gain). def changed my thinking.

did your dr give you a hand out of what to eat or not?

i agree w/cheryl, bread was not on my mush list either.

i am nearly 5 months post op and dont eat bread/rice/pasta

i focus on Protein, fresh veggies/fruit.....and i drink alot...

i also recommend staying off the scale for awhile or weighing so much

as you are still 2 weeks out and still healing.

A slider is a food that never gets stuck just slides right past the band: ice cream, chocolate, chips, mash potatoes, etc...

I did not plan to return to shakes.I will stay away from carbs, etc. although it is on my list, it specifically says to avoid "doughy" type bread.

To say "It's not a point of stopping when you feel full its a point of stopping when you feel satisfied." doesn't make sense to me. That is how I got to where I am (overweight).

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
