I haven't lost a single pound since I went on Mushies and soft food. I know what your all going to say but I still feel lousy. I was losing weight daily on the shakes then went on Mushies on Friday and stopped. I am so worried I am doing something wrong like still eating too much although I haven't gotten over 1000 calories on any day. Should I be weighing everything and if so how much should I be eating per meal. I never feel any restriction and stop when I feel full. I can eat about 3/4 of a sandwhich on using a smear of chicken salad and light Fiber one bread (thinner and smaller then reg bread) and only about 3/4 of a serving of Farina Cereal.< /p>

Do things change when you get fills?

I don't want to have gone through this surgery and fail.

And my insurance denied me seeing the nutricianist

Misty... it will come. I didn't step on the scale until I went back for my post op check up and after that I only weighed on follow ups. (didn't own a scale) It will drive you nuts, stay off it.

You are eating under1000 calories. The weight will go, it has too. Log your food, weighing it is great if you think you are overeating. Get some exercise even if it is a short walk.

You would thing the weight would just fall off eating that little but it doesn't. But if you just keep doing what you are supposed to do, it will!

Good Luck!

The first 4-6 weeks after surgery are for healing, not losing. I would suggest putting your scale away until you're at least back on solid food and past the healing phase.

It's very likely you won't feel restriction until you've had numerous fills. But also keep in mind the band isn't supposed to physically stop you from eating. It's up to you to make sure your portions are band sized. Here's a link to better explain it: http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-eating/lap-band-not-restriction/lap-band-and-restriction.html

Finally, I'd highly recommend paying for a nutritionist yourself then. They are not expensive at all and it's crucial that you learn how to not only eat healthy but that you have good food guidelines to live by. Changing your eating habits to healthy ones for a lifetime is necessary to be successful with the band and you need someone qualified to teach you how to do that.

Best wishes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
