Almost Human Again....almost

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 24 Oct and today is the first day I started feeling a bit human again. So much gas pain and nausea :/ I have lost 13 lbs and a bit concerned its too much too fast. I'm just not hungry because I stay nauseous. I have followed the diet to a "T". But I'm more worried about having no energy. I am pretty much in single parent mode because my husband is deployed for a year with the Air Force. Not fun by myself.

gas x helps a lot and a heating pad does wonders. you are going to be healing for about a month so be sure you rest. As you eat more your trierdness will get better but listen to your body its telling you to rest. Not to worry about your weight loss or gain durning this time you body will be getting rid of toxions at this point let it.there is a lot of Water weight from the surgery so this is what you areL losing.Drink broth hot it will feel better ZI made my own it just tasted better.Line dancer Drindrink broth

You're not losing too fast. I lost 23lbs my first month, then 10, then 8, then nothing, then just 4 or 5 in a month and now I'm lucky if I lose 4lbs. So you will probably slow down some. I'm only like 25lbs from my goal and I get the feeling that my body is gonna make me fight for it :)

I got banded on the 22nd and my 2 biggest evils have been gas & nausea too!!! NO FUN, huh?!?! Energy has been an issue too. I was planning on returning to work last week but it hasn't happened yet.

These things have helped or helped some.....

Nausea: benadryl, lying down. I should say my nausea was so bad yesterday and I hadn't eaten anything but greek yogurt. So I decided to eat a bit & it worked!!!

Gas: Gas-X (still think its debatable if it really working for me), hot packs, cold packs........& the very best lying back down.

I would have to say now, gas is the biggest problem for me. It has been in my left shoulder the last week and the pain is hilacious @ times. The only relief was lying back down. I even ended up calling the surgeon. He said it would pass, and I was doing everything that I could for it.

The nausea post surgery from the anesthesia & pain meds were horrendous too. I realized that my body cannot handle opiods (vicodin & percocet) so therefore I don't take those little effers!!!

Each day gets a little better & a little easier. Sounds like you got your hands full being a pseudo only parent. Try not to over do it and take it easy~

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
