Soooooooooo Tired!

Recommended Posts

Today, 30/10, was my first day back at work (high school teacher). I had my op exactly a week ago. I've lost 11 pounds so far, but am not actively dieting, just 'healing'. Still got quite a bit of gas pain in my left shoulder and the port is quite sore today.

But I am DEAD tired! I knew I'd be tired, but this is something else! I feel like I have lead in my shoes, dragging myself from one class to the next and I cant wait for the end of the day (16:45). Climbing the stairs to my office (on the 4th floor) is killing me!

Please tell me this will get better soon...?

I was banded Oct 15 and after that first week, I felt the same way for awhile. I'd run some errands and be exhausted.

Good news is it didn't last long.

Make sure your staying hydrated and getting your Protein Shakes.< /p>

i hope you have your gas-x with you. yes this will be over. especially since you are up and about. walking around will help you get rid of the excess gas.

sending you a big hug and praying super natural strength for you. :)

Thank you so much Lee! What on earth is gas-x? :-)

Gas-X is a pill in the US that helps relieve gas pains. Essentially it is simethicone, which you could probably find in another form. Tired is to be expected. I am impressed you can make through a day as a high school teacher! Be kind to yourself at home and ask your family to help out so you don't have too much to do once you are home. It takes a while to recover from any surgery.

Thank you so much Lee! What on earth is gas-x? :-)

they are little stripes that disolve on your tongue, like listerine strips or breathe freshners.

you can find them at Walmart, walgreens, ect over the counter. they help with getting rid of gas :)

I ended up in the ER a few years back SO TIRED and I was dehydrated. If you are not getting enough you may want to get a coconut Water or lo cal Gatorade to get you back up where you need to be.

Thanks so much guys! I'm so glad I belong to this forum, seeing that I've opted to keep my banding a secret, I've no-one else to talk to, and here I have a wonderful group of friends that understand where I'm coming from and what I'm going through - hugs to you all!

I really do feel much better today, and I've lost another kilo, so I'm smiling all the way!

It will get better soon. Just concentrate on healing, rest, adequate liquid and nutrition. Don't lift much. I'm a preschool director...two weeks of real healing for me and wa back to work half of second week but oh so sleepy!!!! It seemed that it took two real good months before I felt like me...except a little smaller!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
