kittylove32 90 Posted October 30, 2012 It's been 5 days and I am very uncomfortable. Called dr last night and he said I can take a laxative. kll724 3,055 Posted October 30, 2012 I feel for you, but I agree with Carolinagirl. You do not want to hurt yourself and pull a stitch. Try laxative!!Good luck. Karen 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
Maddysgram 6,159 Posted October 30, 2012 Yep, don't push really hard. The laxative will work believe me. Drink a lot of Water. Worse comes to worse, ask Dr about Fleet Enema or Glycerine Suppositories. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
Jbright 10 Posted October 30, 2012 I had my surgery last Wednesday 10/24. I was a little worried myself so I bought the suppositories (on Saturday) however I never used them. My hubby seems to think that since I've been taking in nothing but liquids there was nothing for me to push out! Well my first BM was yesterday (6days later) and it actually occurred while we were enduring hurricane sandy. (TMI I know) JBright 1 suzannetx reacted to this
2justme 15 Posted October 30, 2012 If you want a laxative pill dulcolax (sp) is a very small pill like the size of a baby aspirin or smaller Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk 1 suzannetx reacted to this
cheryl2586 3,053 Posted October 30, 2012 Milk of Mag and prune juice. Black and white makes it right. Just sayin.... 3 suzannetx, TKW and Maddysgram reacted to this
tiggergramma 129 Posted October 30, 2012 You can also try one of the teas on the market, they can be a little more gentle than laxative pills. The worst part of pushing too hard is that you may develop hemorrhoids, and those are miserable! 1 suzannetx reacted to this

A New New Dawn 1,695 Posted October 30, 2012 Unfortunately, this is all normal too and many of us experience this. You are not taking in much/any Fiber and probably not drinking your full recommended amount yet either. As able, try to up your liquids. That helped me a lot so I didn't have a reoccurence of what you are experiencing!!!! In light of all my corny jokes that my kids roll their eyes at..... I won't say "hang in there" and instead "hang loose" my friend! 1 Maddysgram reacted to this
CHEZNOEL 4,061 Posted October 30, 2012 This is a common problem. I am 1 year out from surgery and still need to take stool softener twice a day and Miralax once a week. I just discovered that using Stevia sweeter in my drinks works great. It is not unusual to go 5-10 days at first because of the low food intake. Keep up the liquids and as stated above, hang loose and relax.
FLORIDAYS 3,040 Posted October 30, 2012 The first month until I was on solids I used a single serving packet of a Fiber supplement 2x each day mixed in diet hot cocoa, tea or even Water. You cannot taste it, smell it or even know its there. It kept me quite regular.
kittylove32 90 Posted November 2, 2012 Thank you everyone!! Sorry I am just responding now but I was without power and internet due to the hurricane. Thankfully thanks to the laxative and stool softner I was able to go the day after I wrote this!! I have gone every day since. This is way tmi but when I go its ALOT!! Like probably 1lb of poop. So sorry girls and any guys. But just wanted to know how much more I have backed up? LOL
taijos 17 Posted November 2, 2012 I guess I am having the opposite problem. My surgery was last week on 10/24 and I haven't had a regular bowel movement yet, the ones that I have had have been really really really soft, sometimes it's actually diarrhea. I asked my doctor about it and he said that it could be just my body reacting to the barium drink. I am getting concerned because I really want to make sure I eliminate waste. I don't want or need to take a laxative, any other insight that you all may have would be helpful.
