5 Year Weight History- Uhc Choice Plus

Recommended Posts

Ok so I got a call today from the surgeons office and they've contacted my insurance and found out my insurance does cover it which is great. My bmi is over 40 so that's good. But she said they need 5 years (1 recorded weight via physician each year) I believe I may be missing a year.

Anyone run into this before?? The next step is to meet with the physician on Thursday to see if he feels I'm a candidate then to submit my paperwork. But is it worth amortization g if I don't have everything they need?

Thanks!!:)

My wife and I have a UHC Options PPO. they also said they required a 5 year weight history. I was missing 2010 and my wife was missing 2009, due to the fact that we only went to the doctor when we were REALLY sick..meaning we didn't get sick enough to go to a doc those years. We were approved in less then a week even with those missing..so you might be ok missing 1 year

I can only account for 4 out of the last 5 years- I never went to the dr unless I felt like I was dying. I hope it doesn't hurt my chances

Hopefully they will approve, do you have some other health conditions that may make an impact?

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
