Doreen14 0 Posted October 29, 2012 I am a week post op and have noticed that I can drink a lot of Fluid in one sip. Can this stretch out your band? I am also starting my mushy stage and feel like I can eat more than I could a few days ago. Can anyone else do this just a week out.
wildrose1966 396 Posted October 30, 2012 Drink away, you won't hurt your band or your pouch (I called my surgeons office and asked this question about 3 weeks ago) As the swelling goes down you will find yourself more hungry.
cheryl2586 3,053 Posted October 30, 2012 I have drank like that for three years. It's liquid it passes right through.
Cupkeezy 28 Posted October 30, 2012 So, it won't hurt the band to gulp?
wildrose1966 396 Posted October 30, 2012 I don't think you should gulp, but drinking a bottle of Water in a sitting won't hurt.
♥LovetheNewMe♥ 1,216 Posted October 30, 2012 Immediately after surgery the band has little to know Fluid in it so you will be able to drink and eat with little resistance. I suggest you practice taking small sips and small bites to prepare for when your band has fluid in it, if not you are going to find out after your first fill what resistance really feels like. You won't stretch the band with fluid but you may cause gas with big drinks, drinking with a straw etc.
