Should I Be Able To See/feel My Port?

Recommended Posts

I had my lapband placed on Friday and I'm feeling pretty good. But I can actually see and feel the port. Is that normal?

It's normal. The more you lose the more you'll be able to see and feel it. I can see the outline of mine when I stand up. I'm thinking of switching to a low profile port once I get and stay at goal.

Depending on where your port was placed this is not at all unusual. I could always feel mine. They tend not to bury it too deep or it would be hard to find when time comes for fills.

Had mine right below rib cage 10/15.

It swells up & down all day long. Even when there's no swelling, I can feel it.

Early on you may not be able to see/feel it due to swelling. But it is normal to feel it and eventually see it with weight loss.
