I Feel Like I Am At A Standstill With My Weight :(

Recommended Posts

Thank you guys so much! BTW have yet another question!

Just got a fill yesterday of 2.5 CC...had to immediately go back in before I left the office and get an unfill so she took out .75 CC. Today I was eating a leftover porkchop, a tiny piece, and it got stuck. It was the worst pain ever! The food got stuck and I somewhat threw up, well Water and some food came up but the throw up was not forceful at all. My son who was watching this whole event said it was more like a spitting up. After that, my stomach felt sore inside. Is this normal to feel sore? Should I be worried that my band slipped? I was able to eat and drink after...of course I took it very slow. I ate hours later and very soft food and then moved to something a bit more solid. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

I just got stuck last night on one of the most tender marinated pork roasts that simmered all day in the crock pot with cream of chicken Soup as the broth. I only had a couple of bites but I was so stressed from work that it got stuck and wanted to die for the next 1/2 hour. The sliming and spitting up and jumping around and gently tapping my band to get it down finally got it to move down and I am sore. Today will be mushies and liquids only as I am still sore. I am 4 years out and still have a day every now and then where something gets stuck. It's stressful days that close my band because I have never had any fills and because of this happening every now and then it re-enforces my mind to not get any fills either. The pain is horrible and I have a huge tolerance for pain but this puts me over the edge. Sometimes it is not just the food but outside forces like stress that affect your band. Every day is a learning experience and I still do not see me ever not having the band even on the bad days. Keep focused and learn that it is not just the food eaten but maybe what you have had going on during the day. I know better that when my boss is a bit...and making everybody's life miserable for the day, to not eat too much or anything that could get stuck. Good luck and keep smiling :)

Well, I see 2 potential problems... many people cannot eat leftovers as they tend to be drier and especially pork can get very dry and have the potential for getting stuck. Also, having just had a fill (and a fairly sizable one at that) most tend to be on liquids the first day and mushies the next. It may have been too soon for you to try solid meat like that after a fill.

As for the band slipping, no I wouldn't worry about it as my doctor told me it would have to be frequent and/or forceful. If you are still getting liquids and mushies down it sounds like you are fine.

Good luck and yes, it is normal to be sore afterwards as your stoma opening is irritated from the stuck episode.

Hope today is going better for you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
