Eat And Drink And No Issues

Recommended Posts

Is the fact that I'm able to eat and drink at the same time without any issues of the food backing up point to the fact that the band hasn't reached the sweet spot or that it is not tight enough? I have another appointment this coming Thursday and I want to make sure that I mention this to the surgeon. Again, is that a problem? I keep hearing of people not being able to drink at the same time, even little sips. I know that I'm not supposed to eat and drink at the same time but sometimes I do it without even thinking about it.

No, it's not a sign of anything other than your band isn't too tight.

Being in the Green Zone doesn't mean you can't eat certain foods, or that you can't eat large amounts of food, or even that you feel full. Being in the Green Zone means you can be satisfied on little food for longer periods of time.

well, drinking while eating helps the food go through quicker (instead of sitting there and helping us feel full...you stated you know not to but continue to do that..i suggest you stop if you can.

Don’t drink while you are eating,,The Lap-Band will help you lose weight the most effectively with solid food. If you drink at mealtimes, the food becomes more liquid allowing more food to be consumed. It is preferable for you not to drink anything while eating and for two hours afterwards to retain the feeling of fullness for as long as possible.

I don't think it is a matter of being able to, it is the fact that we are not suppose to. Very different things. Drinking while eating makes the food pass faster. I can eat potato chips and chocolate bars with my band.........just because I can, doesn't mean I should.

I know what you mean i have very good intentions to not drink with my meal and sometimes i just forget or drink without thinking. I too don't have any problems. So i invests in an egg timer. I set it after i get done eating and put it some where obvious. That way it helps me to remember. It has helped a lot.

As others in previous posts have mentioned, it is my surgeon's rule, as well as other's that you are not supposed to eat and drink at the same time. And there are valid reasons for this simple rule to be followed. Trying to go the distance time-wise between meals without any Snacks and getting hungry are related to not washing your meal down with liquids.

It is simple to follow if prior to beginning your meal you are properly hydrated. By doing that, I have found that it is much easier to wait my required hour before drinking again. It also helps if you do not have liquids at the table with you when you having a meal. That way you don't "forget" you're not supposed to be drinking during meals and slip up.

Posters are probably going to jump up and down. Yes follow your surgeons rules.

My instructions, per my surgeon, lapband pioneer, said its fine to drink with meals. I have done so since day one following his instructions to a t and to date I do not flush my food through the pouch because I take small sips and wait a few minutes between bites. If you wait till the food has passed through the band Fluid will not wash it through as it has already gone through. It's the same rules as eating bite, chew, wait a minute or two. There will be some people that won't be able to do that because it will make them feel ill etc.

I only drink if I feel the need to, am in the green zone, don't feel hungry for up to five or six hours after eating including if I do drink right after I eat also.

Follow your surgeons instructions as we all know that's what we need to do.

My surgeon in the past gave out the same set of rules re not drinking with meals but after all the studies he and his team have done they found, if it causes no problems, it's fine to drink with meals.

Waits for the backlash ....

The only way to solve the eating drinking problem is to not have a drink with you while your eating. I leave all my drinks on my computer when I go to lunch. I wait 30 minutes after I eat. It's not hard to give up drinking and eating at the same time you just have to not bring the drink with you or order one if your out eating.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
