Why Does Caffeine..

Recommended Posts

Keep in mind that for every cup of caffeine you drink you have to drink double in Water to stay hydrated. I never drank coffee, but was an iced tea freak! Now no soda and no iced tea, but I do drink an occasional hot Decaf tea when I am cold.

I was told research says caffeine fine on band but absolutely no carbonation. I can't live without my coffee, but I guess if it was the rule, I would have to change.

I have found absolutely no problem with diet 7-Up. Maybe it's the colas that are bad? Neither My nutritionist nor my doctor has said it was a no-no. Of course there things like Constipation that have not been brought up either.

I'm glad I found this thread because I have been wondering the same thing lately about caffeine. I don't think I drink too much caffeine but I was worried about it because I want my band to last foreeeeeeeeeverrrrrrrrrr :) I only have 2 or 3 cups of coffee in the morning and 1 or 2 cups of hot green tea at night. I haven't had soda in several years. I will say I did try to drink a cherry limeade from sonic back during the summer and It foamed up and came right back out SO since then I haven't taken that chance any more. I can't even drink beer any more :( ( I know we aren't supposed to any way but I did a few times and it got to were it just foamed up also). So now I'm working on becoming a wine aficionado :) (I really don't drink that much LOL!)

I have not had my surgery yet, but my doctor told me that if you still want to drink soda that it is okay, HOWEVER, you have to put it over ice and wait 15 min for the carbonation to go down before drinking it.

I can answer this one.... I just had a fill with a new surgeon as mine retired... :( He says that caffiene is an irritant to your stomach... thats why you get heartburn from too much coffee.... He said it can really irritate your stomach and it can also contribute to band erosion.... He scaired me enough to start cutting back. Can't quit yet gotta wean down to avoid the headaches. I got a 6 month old so when he asked me if I was drinking caffiene I sad yes and he said how much? I said I have a 6 month old and work FT so alot lol.... He asked me to stop.... and thats what he told me in the caffiene lecture lol.

Scotland' date=' Really? I have not heard this..hmmm. I heard flat was ok. I dunno if its even worth risking it..[/quote']

Banderina, I am with you. I don't think I want to take the risk. I think I would rather have the fear of thinking that its going to be really uncomfortable and that I won't feel good. Hey the good thing about that is it will make me not want to drink cokes that are bad for you anyways.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
