Green Zone Or To Tight?

Recommended Posts

I had my 4th fill Oct 17, Only 0.5 cc to bring my band up to 2.5 cc total. Since this fill i can only eat a few bites if i eat anymore then i end up throwing it back up. I have to even be sure to sip instead of drinking to quick. I am losing weight now like crazy bout 1/2 a lb a day. I am super happy with the weight loss but a little concerned. Would love someone elses input.

you need to be able to get enough Water and Protein. If it is not any better by tomorrow I would call the doctor. Hugs

You should be able to eat at least a cup of solid food at one sitting or close to it. That cup would consist of 3-4 ozs of Protein some veggies and if still hungry a little bit of starch. I eat 3ozs protein, 1/2 cup veggies or 1/4 cup veggies and 1/4 cup starch at one sitting. You will lose weight for a while if you are too tight but it will eventually slow down and you will start to lose lean muscle mass instead of fat.

But I will tell you that after my last fill in Jan 2012 it took me longer to get back to this routine. I had to supplement more with shakes for about a week before the irritation of the procedure let up. I had an esophageal spasm during my last fill so it was a little different.

If you are having trouble with liquids you may be a little too tight.

Which band do you have? You should be able to eat 1/2 to 1 cup of food at your meals. My fills took about 10-14 days to settle in so you might have just a bit too much and need a little taken out. It is better to keep your band a bit loose, as too tight can lead to problems. You need to avoid throwing up and if you have thrown up, need to go on liquids for 24 hours. Hope this helps.

THanks for all the replies. I am happy to say that yesterday I eat small amounts and did not get sick at all. I am thinking it just took longer for the swelling to go down.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
