I just got banded on the 17th and am worried that my band might have slipped. I just started being able to eat puréed foods (yogurt, apple sauce, etc). I woke up this morning with a tightness in my chest and a gurgling sound in my abdomen area. The sound comes and goes, but the tightness changes from a little to a lot and a little again. Also, today is my first day at work, so can't really lie down like I had been. I called the drs office, haven't heard back yet. I am also already scheduled for my barium study on the 31st... Any ideas?

You are still in the healing stages. I don't think you would have slipped your band this quickly. I am glad you are following up with your doctor but I think you are ok. The body does a lot of funky things while you are healing. Have you been throwing up repeatedly? That typically would be what would cause it to slip.

I heard back from the nurse, she thinks its just irratation. Absolutely no throwing up or feeling like it. I have a lot of burps though...

I believe it's too soon for a band slip, unless the surgeon screwed up. We all heal differently and most of us take time to heal. Also the band may feel tighter in the morning too some. This has been discussed here on this forum. Stay on course with your doctor's appointment. It's important that you include him in anything that has changed since surgery date.

Best wishes

I was told by my surgeon that if the band slips you suddently can't keep anything down- even Water. Sounds like you are fine. Try not to worry.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
