Can I borrow a little Motivation?

What i need is a good shot in the arm. I seem to do OK in first part of the day but after about 5 I begin to go nuts. munchin and picking, Its like I'm on a hunt for something and I cant figure it out. I know its OK to take a break for a day or two and get back on the wagon, but I don't know what it really is that I want. Ice cream has no pull, I don't want candy, I don't want good food, I cant seem to find anything. I went to the grocery store and thought I could buy one of everything but I really don't want to but I want SOMETHING. What is it? (and don't say sex either, I know thats not it:guess ) Any ideas?

I'm the same way, let me know when you figure it out because I've been dying to know the answer for ...... what..... 40 years now LOL.

Night time has always been hard for me. Its like when I get home after work I feel like I deserve to reward myself with food because after all, I had a long hard day. OY VEY!

I just crave sugar in the later part of the day, don't know why.

Okay, All I've got is motivation.

Okay, you are looking for something, but we've determined that it isn't food. And it isn't sex. Or air, or Water. So, I'm going to guess that you aren't looking for shelter either, so... I"m going to suggest a hobby. You need to do something to occupy not only your hands by your head.

So, what do you like to do? Do you have an interest that you let laps, something that you really like to do, but haven't done in a while. (besides eating that is. ;)) Or perhaps there is something new that you want to try? I know that ballroom dancing is getting popular again, perhaps you can drag your husband out to classes. Dancing is great fun, it is great aerobic excersize, plus it is just so darn fun. If not ballroom, I know where you can take belly dance lessons :)

I'm just throwing ideas out here, but maybe nature photography or a watercolor painting class? Ceramics might be a good choice, you cannot eat when you hands are covered in slip and clay! ;)

Dear Vines, You are so right!! I love to paint, make jewelry, arrange flowers, garden, read, My dh and I actually did learn ballroom dancing but he has sixteen left feet! I love to create anything with my hands, I love to decorate, I'm a pacrat, and thats the trouble. I cant throw anything away since I can think of a million things to do with it. I have actually taken up every square inch of storage. This has stymied my ability to do anything crafty. But I know what to do with it all. I have been emotionally liberated. I will keep only the barest of essentials. Tools, foundational supplies. Out goes the pieces, parts and oddballs. I am starting the sorting, purging and pricing. I have a friend that will sell some of these th lings on EBAY. When this summer is over I plan on settling down to a cozy dark winter with newfound inspiration. What I do want to learn is belly dancing. I think I'm turning another season in my life, only about the 500th. Its funny, the older I get, the more curious I become. I also believe that I will resume painting. I still paint in my dreams. Its amazing to me what the brain does to keep itself fertile.

Good Call!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
