hi laurendevins' date=' sorry about your bad experience, not a good way to start off this journey, seems like its doesnt take much to make it swollen and once its pissed off, its takes a while for it to be your friend again, and the more madder it is, the longer it takes, lol I was on liquids for almost a week after a stuck episode, throwing up blood and an ER visit. I learned a lot that week #1 Laying down will not make anything go away #2 When eating if I ever EVER feel the slightest discomfort STOP!

I hope things get better for you, it is a very sucky way to start off, and that pressure pain is breathtaking, I have been there and for a breif moment I think if I could have taken it out myself I would have. lol [/quote']

Thank you so much for posting! I was starting to think I was the ONLY one who has experienced that and that I was crazy! I feel better know after days of liquid and healing. I now just have to determine then...STOP time. I feel like I'm over doing it maybe. It gets better every time I try though. What I keep or getting is the PAIN when I am thirsty and gulp not sip!!!

I had no fill when band was placed and still had hard time for first two weeks. Could only sip Water and had SF popsicles like they were going out of style. They said cold things help soothe swollen tissue and in the mornings I had my 3 cups of coffee. I was on liquid only for first two weeks and mushies next two weeks. It was one month before I could have anything like mashed potatoes. Maybe that is why I have had such good luck on not getting fills and going 4-5 hours between meals with no fills in my band. I feel full in mid section when I have had enough but I try to not let it get to that point. I use small utensils and small dishes to prepare my portions so that I am not tempted to eat anything more than I am used to. I was very uncomfortable and hurt for the first two weeks and the second two weeks I was still wondering what the he.... I was thinking of getting this band. Do not get all stressed out over it. Calm down because myself if I get stressed my band closes up and I cannot get anything in there except for my cold smoothie with Protein and fruit. Good luck and just relax and heal for now. Some of us are very emotional and the first instinct is to panic. DON"T panic, if they do not find anything wrong, you might be like me that we are very sensitive on the inside and it is not going to take much to tighten that band up. Smile and enjoy the ride.

Sorry, did not mean to ramble on. Good luck and this is a great place to come to help soothe your nerves. I come on here every morning just to see what everybody else is going through and it helps not feeling alone.

I LOVED this post. My stomach flips out when I'm stressed so I now know to expect this after banding. Thank you!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
