My Job Makes Me Eat More

Recommended Posts

I work in a prison, in an area where i have to walk a lot. For some reason, i want to eat or snack through out my 12 hour shift. Do I need my band tightened?

Honestly, that sounds like head hunger not physical hunger. Tightening your band won't help that because your band has nothing to do with your brain.

Unfortunately head hunger will forever be ours to battle. You simply have to learn to resist the urge to eat when you're not physically hungry.

Best wishes.

Agree with Missy's statements, tightening the band will not help. The band can not make you not eat, unfortunately only you can do that. You need to try and figure out what else you can do with that time of the day when you feel the need to eat. Eating should be reserved to meal times and planned snack periods like a Protein bar or shake between meals.

Missy is correct in her statement that head hunger will always be our battle, if you do not learn to control this early on in this journey it will be a continual battle with a negative outcome.

well, i would love to say my desk job makes me eat more or that my pms time makes me eat more

but in reality, its my right hand that brings the food to my mouth to eat...not anything else.

like you, i get hungry too but you gotta work this band to make it work. if you are hungry, eat

but eat good, healthy food and do not make excuses to eat junk food....thats why we got the band in

the first place....

What is triggering the head hunger? Get to the bottom of that. Sounds like maybe a coping mechanism? What emotion are you feeling right before you want to snack? Getting to the bottom of that will really change things!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
