Oh The Gas Pains

Recommended Posts

It seems I am starting a list of foods, I should be able to eat that have given me such bad gas pains that I would be afraid to try them again any time soon. The first is Beans...........on my mushy stage, I had gas so bad that I had to leave work as I was in pain............this lasted almost 12hrs. I had a fill yesterday morning, so had mushroom Soup for dinner (restaurant). I maybe had 1/3 of a cup, no chunks just Soup and the gas and pain were as bad as the Beans, even got shoulder gas pain, which I haven't had in about 2 weeks..............it didn't last as long thank god, but enough to make me extremely uncomfortable.

Mushrooms

Beans

Anything on your list that isn't the obvious (breads etc)

I had surgery 9/20

I still have some pain under my left breast

Especially after drinking too much Water

How can you tell what's causing the pain?

I think it's gas but I'm not sure!

I really have no clue how the band should feel!!!

I didn't think my band would involve pain!

Sorry, I can't help you much as I have not had any pain, except from my Beans and mushrooms. My gas pains were all in my shoulders. I don't think I 'feel' my band at all. I would guess it could still be gas, but doesn't hurt to contact your dr.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
