Hot Chocolate With Protein...

Recommended Posts

At my first post-op appt on Tuesday, the PA had a Come to Jesus talk with me about my very low Protein intake. So before I left I decided to try a product they sell there that is hot chocolate with marshmallows by Health Wise and it has 15 grams of protein per packet. Good stuff if you're needing the protein help like I do. Having it for my Breakfast this morning since OK had a cold front blast in yesterday.

another good choice is Greek Yogurt. I HATE the fruit on the bottom ones, and before surgery had never eaten yogurt... not even once.

Try Oikos Key Lime, it is scrumptious, so is the raspberry the fruit is blended in with the yogurt. Lots of protien - make sure it's Greek.

Just a suggestion...! Keep up the good work!

That was what the PA told me too. I don't really care for yogurt period...and really don't like Greek yogurt, but she told me to doctor it up as much as I can to get the Protein in me. So when I go to the grocery store this weekend, I'll be wrinkling my nose and buying some. Ha! Thanks for the suggestions on flavors!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
