Recommended Posts

Just had my first fill today . I gained 3 pounds while waiting for my first fill. Will I finally lose some weight now? :(

I gained 3 pounds waiting for my first fill also! I was filled on Thursday last week, and after the 48 hours back on liquids had lost those 3 again. Unfortunately, back to where I was before the fill after the first day of solids. I have not weighed in 3 days now, and won't for another 4, so ... we'll see, I guess. I definitely feel the restriction now...more like when it was swollen after surgery, so I hope that is a good thing.

Good luck, I hope it works out for both of us :)

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but probably not. It usually takes most people from 2-4 fills to feel any restriction at all. Some people (very few) feel it without any fills, and some after just one. But I think the majority of people take a few fills to get there. It was my 3rd fill 4 mths into it that was the magic fill.

Be patient. It WILL come to you! I promise! You could be 1 of the very few that it works the first time. Then I can put my foot in my mouth!

You are probably right. I have been reading other posts and most seem to have the same story :(

Marci (Ms Bad News) is right. It will probably take several fills, you have started the banbster hell stage of the journey. You will be through it, in the mean time eat like you have restriction, 1 cup food, Protein first, small bites, chew chew chew. You will start to see results.

Best of luck to you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
