Need Some Council Fellow Bandsters

Recommended Posts

I was banded Oct 19, 2010. My husband lost his job shortly thereafter and I fell completely off the wagon. I couldnt afford my fills so I just gave up. I am in a much better place for me now and I really want to start back over. What do I do? I am terrified and ashamed to go back to my surgeon. I feel no restriction anymore and I know a need a fill. I refuse to be a failure anymore. I sure could use some prayers for strength and confidence and some suggestions right now. Thank y'all so much.

You've taken the first step, now pick up the phone and call your doctor. You are not the first patient to loose track and you won't be the last. They are here to help you and now you arw ready for help.

You can do this, good luck.

Thanks. I am going to call first thing in the morning. There is also a group meeting tomorrow night. I am going to make sure I'm there.

I love my support group. We meet tomorrow night too. Nothing beats being surrounded with fellow bandsters to motivate you.

Your on your way!

A support group is fine but the band is useless unless you get fills. Remember the doctor works for you not the other way around. If you can now afford fills (Some hospitals have cash pay prices which are cheaper than insurance prices.) go get a fill.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
