Has anyone else had there gall bladder removed after being banded??, I've been having extreme attacks for a week now I go in tomorrow morning to have it out as my Dr said rapid weight loss causes this.. I'm almost 8 weeks post OP and down 45 since surg 65 with my pre OP diet. Only thing I'm really worried about is having those gas pains again,:/ well they unfill my band?

Its in the right upper quadrant area its a sharp Pain that radiates into my back and shoulder and it makes me sick to my stomach and throw up. I eat very healthy no fat at all and when my surgeon sent me too the er a few says ago my gall bladder was extremely dialated full of sludge and a stone so he scheduled me for surgery right away as it can be damaging to the band if not taken out.. Call your surgeon and let them know what's going on they'll prob take it out. My Dr said once it starts it doesn't stop due to the rapid weight loss... Good luck girly hope you get it taken care of.. I'll be so much happier once its out living in constant pain the past week has been hell :(

I was banded 8/1/2012 and just had my gallbladder out on 10/5. In my opinion, I found the recovery much easier than the band.

Nope, no unfill, just 4 more incisions in addtion to the 5 from band surgery. Also, the gas pains were nothing compared to band surgery.

Once the gall bladder is gone the pains should go as well. Though when I was younger (I had it out 24 years ago) I sometimes had phantom pain during PMS. Not sure why but they only came during PMS.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
